TWO RECORDS IN ONE DAY FOR GUERNSEY TOUCH

A RECORD number of teams and players will take part in the 2010 Ernst & Young Touch Summer League which starts tomorrow night.

The 12-week season has attracted 400 players and 37 teams and so organisers have had to add an extra time slot each week and two additional nights of games to ensure all the fixtures can be played.

‘We’re overwhelmed at the enthusiasm. To have nearly 100 extra players and six extra teams far exceeds any of our expectations and it’s great to see that we have a real mix of old and new teams,’ said Guernsey Touch chair Katrina Bray.

The mixed divisions will have 19 teams in, the men’s will have 11 and the ladies will have seven and all games will be played on Wednesday nights at Cambridge Park.

‘Teams have been training really hard and it will be interesting to see how well the newer teams have developed. Hopefully there will be some close fought games and some great touch and we hope that people will come up and watch what is an exciting spectator sport,’ said Bray.

With the league about to start, Guernsey Touch has now opened registration for the CISX Channel Islands Club Championship takes place at the Garenne Stand over the weekend of 12th & 13th and more details can be found at www.guernseytouch.org,gg or by contacting info@guernseytouch.org.gg
